Stretchy Crochet Wristlet Keychain (FREE Pattern)
Wristlets make super cute and functional keychains, and they’re really easy to crochet! All you need are the keychain clip, some yarn, a crochet hook, and a tapestry needle. The beauty of this stretchy wristlet is that it can easily slip over your wrist without being too snug.
I decided to use a low-pill worsted weight yarn for this project since the nature of a keychain is that it’s going to get roughed up a bit over time. I’ve tried using extra soft, fine yarn in the past and it pilled super quickly, so I don’t recommend that. You can find lots of good low-pill yarn in all sorts of pretty colors!
The colors I chose are pretty muted colors from Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek which is from Hobby Lobby.
The EXACT keychain clips I used are from Amazon, which you can get here.

Supplies
- 1 skein of low-pill, worsted weight yarn (you will obviously use way less than 1 skein for this, which makes it a great stash-buster!)
- H-8 (5.00mm) crochet hook (if you want tighter stitches, use a 4.5mm hook instead)
- Keychain clips (this is what I used)
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Terms Used
- CH (chain)
- SC (single crochet) – see this diagram if you need a refresher!
- BLO (back loops only – crochet only in the back loop of the stitch instead of both two loops)
- SCBLO (single crochet in back loops only)
Need a visual refresher on how to crochet in back loops only? Check out my video tutorial!
Instructions
Band
When you make your slip knot onto the crochet hook, be sure to leave a long tail (about 8 inches) for attaching to the keychain clip at the end. CH 4.
Row 1: In the second chain from the hook, SC. SC in the next 2 chains. CH1 and turn.
Row 2: SCBLO in the same stitch as the CH1, then SCBLO in the next 2 chains. CH1 and turn.
Row 3+: Repeat Row 2. Continue to repeat until the band reaches 8 inches without stretching (about 36 rows, give or take. You can always add more or less rows depending on your own wrist size, I just made sure it’s a couple inches longer than my wrist size so the band isn’t too snug.
Do not fasten off or cut yarn yet.

Attaching the clip
Make sure you CH1 from the last row. Now, insert hook (in both loops, not back loops only) in the same st that you CH1 from, yarn over, and pull through. Now insert the hook THROUGH the keychain clip ring, yarn over, and pull through both the ring and the remaining loops.
Repeat this step through the rest of the stitches. Fasten off and weave in end.
Attaching the ring
Take the long tail from the beginning of the band and sew it onto the ring using a tapestry needle. Trim and weave in ends when you feel it’s secure.
Final thoughts
That’s it! It’s a super easy, cute, quick pattern that you can make in any color or size you want. Use it for your keys, clip it to your purse, wrap around one of those Stanley cups lol. And the best part is that it’s stretchy so your measurements don’t have to be exact!
